Activities

Walking
We have walks for every ability around Invergarry. Take an easy stroll along the Great Glen Way, absorb the local forest scenery at the end of the lane, tackle our local Corbett, Ben Tee, or bag the local Munros. Have a look at Walk Highlands for ideas and inspiration or see our top picks for local walks

Cycling
The long distance Great Glen Cycle Route passes the Lodge. Many of the local forests have way marked trails. The more adventurous can hit the Balnain Bike park or the downhill tracks at Nevis Range or Laggan Wolftrax. See here for more ideas.

Road Cyclists can take advantage of the many quiet and tranquil Highland roads. We also have a bike shed for over night parking and a power washer to wash that mud away.

Climbing
Glen Nevis will provide you with all the cragging you’ll ever need. Alternatively, hit ‘The Ben’ for a big mountain day out. There are also crags and bouldering near Loch Ness if you fancy something a little different. Fancy something easier? There’s plenty of scrambling in the area, you could try the excellent Forcan Ridge, grade 2.

Water
The grade 3 River Garry has some notable playholes for kayakers, or try one of the other rivers in the vicintiy – Roy, Spean, Nevis, Gloy and Moriston. Alternatively, take it easier with some inland touring or sailing on one of the local lochs.

You’ll probably want to take advantage of our drying room to get your kit ready for the next day.

The local activity company, Active Highs,  runs regular rafting trips down the River Garry and scenic trips down the river Oich along with canyoning trips etc.

Winter
With Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range only about half an hour away the opportunities for skiing and ice climbing are great. You can even hire sledges at the Nevis Range!

Conditions not right? You can always be in the Cairngorms in 90 minutes or the the car park for Creag Meagaidh in 35 minutes or so.

Fishing
We are right next to the River Garry which has great trout and salmon fishing. We’ve also been told about some good pike fishing less than a mile away in the local lochs. We’ve also had some great mackeral from Kinlochhourn in the late summer.

Fishing is also available on Loch Garry, reliable boat hire available from www.lochgarryfishing.co.uk.

Fishing and sightseeing trips are also available on Loch Lochy, contact Ian on 01809 501295. £30 half a day, £15 rod hire.
