We didn’t have high hopes for our finishing place for this event, Ian had been on his deathbed for 10 days and was very close to pulling out, me, well, I’ve got two children in nappies so training time has been pretty limited. The Highlander is the first mountain marathon of the year so the weather can be variable. This year it was kind to us, good visibility but with a dusting of snow on both days to make it interesting. Chances to get out on the hill have been few and far between since our second child arrived two months ago but with the first mountain marathon of the year in 2 and half weeks it is time to try and squeeze in some last minute training.
