Invergarry lodge is now officially part of the Great Glen Way! Although we've had people using us as a stopover for years there is now an official Invergarry Link to get you to the services in the village. The Great Glen Way runs for 73 miles along the Great Glen from Fort William to Inverness. It formally opened for business in April 2002, though people had been walking it long before then. Traditionally the walk has been done in 6 stages (Fort willaim, Gairlochy, Laggan, Fort Augustus, Invermoriston, Drumnadrochit and Inverness) but we are now finding that people are doing it in fewer stages and using us as their second stop (Fort William, Gairlochy, Invergarry, Invermoriston, Drumnadrochit and Inverness). We've even had people use us as their first stop and walk all the way from Fort William in one go! The route follows a major natural faultline across the Highlands, providing straightforward walking throughout. It offers a great introduction to the region and to long distance walking. The Way runs along the lengths of Loch Linnhe, Loch Oich and the forests above Loch Ness. It also follows many sections of the Caledonian Canal that link these three lochs and the two coasts.
